Physical therapists are licensed health care professionals who provide examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, and intervention for patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes. People come to physical therapy when they have back or neck injuries, sprains, strains, sports or work related injuries.
Following an examination of an individual with impairment, functional limitations or disabilities, Physical Therapists design an individualized plan of care and services. Choosing from a broad array of interventions, Physical Therapists alleviate impairments and functional limitations as well as promote and maintain optimal fitness, physical function, and quality of life as it relates to movement and health.
Interventions may include therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual therapy techniques and modalities, and the use of assistive devices.
In most cases, insurance covers Physical Therapy services. It is best to contact your plan administrator to obtain the most current information on coverage, any required referrals and limitations if they exist.
