Massage Therapy for Couples
Today more than ever, couples - or any two closely connected people - need to find beneficial, cost-effective ways to enjoy each other's company with an emphasis on fostering positive ways of communicating. Many spas and hotels offer couples massage, which is performed in the same room with the couple lying on adjacent tables but without any contact between them; surely a pleasant experience, but what does the couple take home with them?
Here at the Marino Center for Integrative Health we are offering a unique service to help you and your loved one learn and practice at home a health-promoting activity for two which will relieve stress, enliven your spirits, and enhance your relationship. Massage is a form of therapeutic touch which, at a very basic level, most all of us desire and truly need. It has consistently been found to decrease stress and anxiety, and improve sleep quality, concentration, circulation and general energy levels. When two people regularly engage in mutual massage practice it is very likely to facilitate other aspects of their intimacy, including enhanced verbal sharing, a stronger sense of collaboration as a team, and greater feelings of and receptiveness to physical intimacy.
The MCIH program of Massage Training for Couples consists of private lessons directed by Debra Brothers-Klezmer, who is a Registered Nurse and nationally certified Muscular Therapist with over thirty years of experience in Women's Health, Rehabilitation, and Pain Management. She will work with you in a safe, professional environment at our Wellesley Center, while teaching you to create a new area of sharing and trust as you develop your massage skills. The program has a brief, cost-effective format: three one-hour training sessions and two one-hour follow-up sessions at monthly intervals.
